Victor Marx is relatively new to the political stage. A Christian fundamentalist and ministry leader turned Republican nominee for governor of Colorado in the 2026 election, Marx has attracted attention for his unusual past and increasingly concerning rhetoric.
Marx alleges that at age seven, his abusive stepfather drove him to a rural area and made him shoot and kill a man. In a recent interview with Colorado news station 9News, Marx claimed he is unsure how many people he has killed, and said he does not need to clarify the details of his past.
In his younger years, Marx worked as an assistant at Focus on the Family, the religious-right, Christian nationalist group founded by James Dobson. Dobson, who died in 2025, was one of the country’s most prominent anti-LGBTQ activists. He advocated for women’s subservience to men in the home, and claimed school shootings were God’s vengeance for Americans’ acceptance of abortion and homosexuality.
In 2003, Marx founded his own nonprofit ministry, All Things Possible. The organization says it conducts operations in “high-risk” areas to rescue women and children. For years, Marx claimed that the ministry had rescued 45,000 women and children, but that figure was later removed from his website and campaign materials after it could not be substantiated.
Exorcism is also central to Marx’s ministry. He claims to perform exorcisms routinely, sometimes over the phone, and that casting out demons is a prominent part of the $7.5 million ministry he leads.

Marx has also described spiritual warfare as central to his campaign for governor. That framing is particularly evident in his campaign advertising. In an ad for the general election, Marx appears standing before a towering cross, followed by images of people who appear to be churchgoers or campaign rally attendees raising their hands in prayer. A voiceover describes Marx as “a man that understands war on the Earth and war in the heavens, and he will not compromise.”
Marx’s brand of militant Christianity reflects a broader pattern within Christian nationalism: framing faith as a weapon to be wielded against a perceived enemy, while casting powerful men as uniquely called by God to lead the fight. Rather than a faith centered on service, humility, and love of neighbor, this theology turns spiritual language into a justification for power and confrontation.
Victor Marx is not simply a candidate who happens to be Christian. He is a committed Christian nationalist whose rhetoric and ministry reflect a dangerous fusion of religious authority, spiritual warfare, and political power. For these reasons, Victor Marx is a 2026 False Prophet.
