FALSE PROPHET
Katie Britt
U.S. Senator, Alabama
Senator Katie Britt of Alabama gained national attention for her 2024 State of the Union response, which was panned as misleading, overly dramatic, and dark. In the speech, she, like her fellow False Prophets, weaponized religion, calling for viewers to pray for a better America and stoking fear of immigrants and “the left.”
Britt, the first woman elected to the Senate from Alabama, was called a “fearless America First Warrior” by fellow False Prophet Donald Trump in 2022. She’s built a public persona that weaponizes her gender and projects a housewife-esque ethos, calling herself a “mama on a mission.” This is despite having previously served as Sen. Richard Shelby’s chief of staff—a role that included pushing for confirming conservative judges.
During her campaign, she supported Alabama’s version of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, claiming “we need to get God back in our classrooms” while spreading homophobic and transphobic lies. She’s also a supporter of legislation that would deny transgender children and teens affirming healthcare services and limit birthright citizenship.
