FALSE PROPHET
Raymond Arroyo
News Director & Lead Anchor, EWTN
Raymond Arroyo is the news director and lead anchor for EWTN, the Catholic cable news network, and a frequent Fox News guest host. He masquerades as a serious reporter, but he's actually a right-wing activist who hides his conflict of interest from viewers.
Arroyo serves on the Board of Directors of the Catholic League, a wealthy ultra-conservative organization that is pro-Trump and opposes Pope Francis. He also frequently features Catholic League president Bill Donohue on his EWTN program, “The World Over,” without disclosing their professional relationship. The Catholic League is best known for attacking LGBTQ people, Democrats, and even Faithful America, under the guise of “defending the Catholic Church.”
He has interviewed fellow False Prophet Donald Trump on his show, lobbing softball questions and giving the ex-president a platform to continue to spread his lies about the 2020 election. As part of the segment, he allowed Trump to read and mischaracterize the significance of a letter from fellow False Prophet and now excommunicated former Catholic Archbishop Carlo Viganò.
In a 2024 Fox News appearance, Arroyo made the racist claim that Trump would make inroads with Black voters with $400 gold, Trump-themed sneakers, which he said "[is] connecting with Black America because they love sneakers! They're into sneakers… this is a big deal, certainly in the inner city. So when you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, they're like, 'Wait a minute, this is cool!'"
Arroyo has repeatedly used his platform to attack Pope Francis, including accusing the Pope of being conned by a shadowy conspiracy of world leaders, scientists, and environmental activists into accepting the reality of climate change. Arroyo’s anti-Francis coverage of the historic Catholic synod – a robust, diverse global discussion about the future of the church – was also panned by fact-based journalists as “a real misinformation, bordering on disinformation, campaign.”
