FALSE PROPHET
Dutch Sheets
National Apostolic Reformation
William “Dutch” Sheets is a self-described “messenger of hope for America” seeking to return the country to “her God-given destiny” through a Third Great Awakening. He is one of the most prominent leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation, described by Slate as a “rapidly-growing, anti-democratic religious movement.” Other members include fellow False Prophets Lance Wallnau and Julie Green.
Sheets is reported to have met with Trump administration officials a week before the January 6 insurrection and used his daily YouTube broadcasts, which at the time reached more than 200,000 views a day, to spread the Big Lie and other misinformation.
Author, religious studies scholar, and expert on Christian nationalism Matthew D. Taylor explains Sheets’ integral role in the insurrection, writing: “No Christian leader did more to mobilize Christians to be in DC on January 6th than Dutch Sheets.”
Additionally, Sheets is the driving force behind the Christian nationalist acceptance of the infamous “An Appeal to Heaven” flag, which garnered national attention after being seen flying in front of fellow False Prophet Samuel Alito’s house. The flag, which was carried by numerous insurrectionists, also flies outside of fellow False Prophet Speaker Mike Johnson’s office.
